Upbringing
Josh started his professional musical journey singing his first studio session for the "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" Disney TV Show, as a SAG member at age 5. Later that year, Josh started studying classical piano with Grace Huang for 12 years and then theory with Kathy Sawada at the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles, California. Josh performed in piano recitals every year during his studies at Colburn and competed in several piano competitions including The Bach Festival Pasadena Branch, where he received honorable mention. In the 8th grade, Josh picked up the trumpet and continued his studies at Chaminade College Prep High School where he played in the concert band, marching band, jazz band, drum-line and was awarded the Louis Armstrong Award for Outstanding Trumpet Performance. While at Chaminade, Josh traveled abroad to represent the US with a concert performance in Spain then back in the states performing in Washington D.C. As a trumpet player Josh also joined the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, which performed at UCLA's "Schoenberg Hall" and The Colburn School's "Zipper Hall."
Berklee
Josh received a full scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he graduated with a Double Major in Contemporary Writing & Production and Film Scoring as well as a Video Game Scoring Minor. While conducting, writing and arranging his own compositions for live orchestra, part of Josh's studies included score preparation, orchestrating, ensemble and vocal arranging, mixing, session playing, conducting, producing, sound design and jazz improvisation. Josh also studied trumpet with Tiger Okoshi and is efficient in keyboards, bass, and drums. In 2018, Josh was accepted into the Study Abroad Program in Valencia, Spain. In his senior year Josh interned for 1 year with composer, Kelsey Joanne Rogers. His responsibilities were arranging, copying, producing mediation music, mixing, transcribing, professional calls to directors on behalf of the composer. After that stent, he interned for MPath Productions as part of their meta-data team, where they met up and discussed different possibilities for descriptions of various albums and songs pre-released for placement for song catalogs. Josh excelled in multitasking and project management, which he constantly demonstrated by completing multiple semesters on the Deans Lists.
Post-graduation
Since graduating during the pandemic, Josh has been working as a freelance musician. He has produced multiple artists and has been working on media projects ranging from Podcast Music, to Video Game music intros. Josh has also been working in a Big Band touring group with Gary Vechiarelli Productions as a member of the trumpet section, the Logistics and Productions Manager, Copyist, and the Music Librarian. As a musician, Josh is playing piano for multiple artists, as well as Johnny Britt for which Josh is the Musical Director for Johnny Britt's band.
As of recently, Josh has started working as a Music Librarian for BTW Productions at Disney Studios in Burbank, California. The work of a Music Librarian entails of the music preparation for Film and Television recording sessions all over Los Angeles. Josh is a part of a team that specializes in printing/taping parts and scores, preparing and tabbing scorebooks, attending the sessions and fixing whatever problems may arise on the spot, as well as the proper filing of the music when it returns.
